Runa Hampi

Runa Hampi: Ancestral Indigenous Medicine, Health Maintenance, and Healing Practices in the Andes

Runa Hampi are Kichwa words meaning the indigenous holistic mind/body/spirit approach to health and wellness in the Andes of Ecuador.

The retreat is led by an English-speaking seventh-generation Kichwa Otavalo indigenous yachak (shaman) at Kinti Yaya Healing Sanctuary, located in Perucho Centro, Pichincha, near Quito, Ecuador.

This retreat includes:

  • demonstrations and explanations of Andean “shamanic” spiritual energy balancing and cleansing ceremonies;
  • how to identify, prepare and apply the most common ancestral medicinal plants of the Andes
  • how to establish a powerful connection with Pachamama Mother Earth
  • how Andean music and other sounds are used in „sound healing,“ connection and sacred ceremonies;
  • visits to sacred natural energetic points, the temples of nature for the indigenous people of this region;
  • instruction in the nutritional principles and food preparation practices of the strong and healthy local indigenous people;
  • introductory session in Kuyuriy (pre-Incan Andean yoga)

Each participant will be provided one personal wayrapichay (spiritual cleansing and balancing ceremony, „limpieza„).

Retreat fee includes all the above teachings, Andean ceremonies, ten runa mikuy meals (vegan or animal protein), local transportation, and overnight lodging with a traditional Kichwa family for a cultural immersion experience.

Note: We do not offer spa, service staff, or luxury retreat accommodations. There is a fee for pick-up and drop-off transportation to and from the Quito airport (Mariscal Sucre International Airport) approximately one hour away. Arrangements for airport transportation must be made at least one week before the retreat.
